Licensed Holistic Physician Care: Meet Your Board-Certified Holistic MD Doctor at CITM
Looking for a Holistic MD because you're seeking a licensed practitioner, not a health coach or unlicensed practitioner, to provide your care? Dr. Roman Finn, a board-certified holistic doctor, leads the Center for Integrative & Traditional Medicine (CITM), which focuses on medical licensure as well as a whole-person, root-cause approach.
Physician-led holistic medicine begins with a medical work-up, not a supplement checklist. Dr. Finn and the CITM team specialize in chronic disease, autoimmunity, hormone imbalance, and digestive health, providing a holistic approach that is based on the principles of medical care.
Meet Our Licensed Holistic Physician Team
- Dr Roman Finn, MD – Board Certified Holistic Doctor – licensed physician specializing in root cause, physician-led, holistic medicine for chronic and autoimmune disease
- Certified Naturopathic Practitioner – assists Dr. Finn with medical management and advises on detoxification and lifestyle counseling
- Gastroenterology Specialist – offers a physician-level diagnosis of digestive problems as part of the holistic care plan
- Certified Nutritionist – creates nutrition plans which complement the medical treatment plan rather than supplant it
Key Facts About Holistic MD Care at CITM
- A Holistic MD can prescribe, order advanced medical labs, and diagnose – a health coach or most naturopaths cannot.
- The Holistic Physician is a licensed holistic doctor who treats patients in Bergen County, Hudson County, and Passaic County out of her Paramus, NJ office.
- Other conditions treated include autoimmune disorders, hormonal imbalance, chronic pain, digestive disorders, and unexplained fatigue.
- Initial consultations are longer than a typical primary care appointment so that a thorough root cause assessment can be undertaken.
What Is a Holistic MD? (And How Is It Different?)
A Holistic MD is a physician trained in medical school and residency, licensed to practice medicine, and trained to practice medicine in a whole-person, root-cause fashion, instead of a symptom-by-symptom fashion. There is a difference between an MD-led holistic approach to holistic care and a holistic doctor, which could be a health coach, wellness practitioner, or even a naturopath who isn’t even a licensed physician. Like any doctor visit, the first step is nutrition, lifestyle, and integrative therapies.
Conditions Our Board-Certified Holistic Doctor Treats
- Chronic disease management – diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hypertension
- Autoimmune condition treatment – rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis
- Hormonal imbalance support – thyroid conditions, adrenal fatigue, perimenopause
- Digestive health & gut healing – IBS, Crohn’s disease, acid reflux, leaky gut
- Mental wellness support – anxiety, depression, chronic stress

Serving NJ Patients Seeking an MD-Led Holistic Care Provider
Patients especially appreciate the MD credential because there is no limit to what he can do – he prescribes, he diagnoses, he orders advanced labs, and then he’s still able to create a plan for nutrition, lifestyle, and root cause treatment. Physician-led whole-person medicine is therefore the only thing that a health coach or naturopath can legally not provide.
Why NJ Patients Choose a Board-Certified Holistic Doctor Over a Coach or Naturopath
Patients choose Dr. Finn specifically because the MD credential means nothing is off the table – he can prescribe, diagnose, and order advanced labs, then still build a plan around nutrition, lifestyle, and root-cause treatment. That combination of full medical authority and whole-person focus is what physician-led holistic medicine offers that a health coach or naturopath legally cannot.
Holistic MD vs. Naturopath vs. Health Coach
| Provider | Can Prescribe Medication | Can Order Advanced Labs | Can Diagnose Conditions | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Holistic MD | Yes | Yes | Yes | Patients wanting licensed-physician oversight with whole-person care |
| Naturopath | No | Limited | Limited | Lifestyle-first support alongside conventional care |
| Health Coach | No | No | No | Accountability and habit-building, not medical treatment |

I have been going to Dr. Finn's office for over 15 years and I am very happy with the services and treatment I receive. Dr. Finn always listens to his patients and tries to get to the root of the problem instead of just treating the symptoms. I like that he always recommends using natural and alternative methods first instead of prescribing medications right away. I also go for a physical therapy at his office for my back problems. His physical therapist is very knowledgeable and massage therapists, Galina and Shirley, are the best! They always welcome me with the smile and are very attentive. I would not think of going anywhere else. Keep up a great job Dr. Finn and The Staff!!Posted on Google
