Holistic Internist Bergen County Residents Can Actually Book for Ongoing Care

If you are looking for a holistic internist in Bergen County, you'll find a true holistic doctor – but one who doesn't accept new patients and has converted her practice to a paid coaching membership rather than an office visit. You'll also find many functional practices that have stood the test of time, and some directory listings that give little insight into what they're actually run by. Finding a simple answer is harder–the internist who is board-certified and is seeing patients face-to-face, in my office, rather than in a program or a separate program.

Dr Roman Finn of CITM

Who You'll Work With at CITM

  • Dr. Roman Finn, Holistic Internist and Integrative Physician, takes over your case from your first visit to the office and continues with follow-up visits

  • A gastroenterology consult is added if digestive symptoms have been added to the big picture

  • A naturopathic practitioner is a part of Dr. Finn’s team when addressing lifestyle and natural therapies when appropriate

  • A nutritionist doesn’t simply assign you a nutrition plan, but rather reads your real lab values and creates your plan based on those numbers

One team is with you from start to finish–no missed communication between non-communicating offices.

Before Finding the Right Holistic Internist in Bergen County

Most patients who call CITM from Hackensack, Englewood, Teaneck, Ridgewood, and Fair Lawn have first tried to find this type of care closer to home. The typical search of this type is:

You find a doctor by searching the web who is holistic and board-certified, and then the office tells you that they don’t take new patients anymore–or that they now have a monthly fee for continuing support, group calls, membership to a content library, rather than a regular visit with your own doctor. It is another name that turns out to be the same clinic, but with the town name changed in a dozen Bergen towns, and–no way of telling–what the doctor does differently there. A third possibility is a large, internal medicine group, where the actual doctors were, but the visit was not a 12-minute history session, but a single complaint.

Meanwhile, the actual problem hasn’t moved: bloodwork that keeps coming back clear despite ongoing symptoms, fatigue that’s been going on for over a year, an autoimmune diagnosis with a prescription but no lifestyle plan, or a specialist for every organ system and nobody looking at how they connect.

Life After Your First Visit: What CITM Actually Changes

The change is not so dramatic on day one, it manifests itself in what no longer occurs. No more changing the specialist every few months, since one doctor already has the entire file. Once your labs are technically normal, you don’t shrug and go, you have functional ranges and it is time to look at your functional pattern. You don’t wait until next annual physical to make a note of anything new; you have an early check-in in your plan as part of the planning process from the beginning.

What replaces it: a doctor who already knows your case picking up where the last visit left off, a plan that adjusts based on what’s actually changing in your body, and a follow-up testing point that shows real progress instead of asking you to guess whether things are better.

Signs It's Time to See a Holistic Internist in Bergen County

  • Despite your labs staying in normal range, you still do not feel well
  • You have an autoimmune or hormonal disease and no one has discussed the lifestyle part of it
  • Healthcare providers: (3 or more) don’t communicate with each other
  • You were referred to a holistic doctor in Bergen County, but it was not accepting of patients or was referring you to a paid coaching program
  • You don’t want to keep repeating your medical history every time you have a new appointment
  • Fatigue, brain fog, or digestive issues have persisted beyond all of the received explanations you’ve heard

What Might Be Included in Your Care Plan

  • Dr. Finn is your eyes and ears and will keep a close watch on you as your internist of record

  • Nutrient therapy through the IV route if there is a true blood deficiency

  • Referral to gastroenterology if symptoms are related to gut issues

  • Nutrition counseling created specifically for your lab results

  • Patients with a dysfunctional cortisol pattern as part of the problem, stress and sleep support

How Care Actually Progresses at CITM

  1. You bring your history. Multiple labs, imaging and specialist notes reviewed together – not separate cases.

  2. Testing closes the gaps. Only what hasn’t already been checked, ordered new.

  3. You leave with a plan, not homework. Educating about nutrition, lifestyle and any needed therapies in simple terms.

  4. An early follow-up catches what isn’t working. Changes take place prior to a plan being considered final.

  5. A later reassessment confirms real change. Not only a subjective check-in, but follow up testing.

I have been going to Dr. Finn's office for over 15 years and I am very happy with the services and treatment I receive. Dr. Finn always listens to his patients and tries to get to the root of the problem instead of just treating the symptoms. I like that he always recommends using natural and alternative methods first instead of prescribing medications right away. I also go for a physical therapy at his office for my back problems. His physical therapist is very knowledgeable and massage therapists, Galina and Shirley, are the best! They always welcome me with the smile and are very attentive. I would not think of going anywhere else. Keep up a great job Dr. Finn and The Staff!!

Frequently Asked Questions: Holistic Internist Bergen County

Is this a coaching program or membership, like some Bergen County practices now offer?

No. CITM’s holistic internist in Bergen County is a direct medical appointment – an office visit with a doctor and a plan for treatment, not a subscription to a call series, group or a content library.

It’s quite a bit of practice these days in holistic Bergen County internists. Many of the most well-qualified have either limited their intake of new clients or have turned to membership-based coaching. New patients are accepted at CITM’s holistic internal medicine practice, and you’ll be seen directly.

Read past the label and make sure the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine, that they’re seeing patients in person instead of through a coaching platform, and that they’re accepting new patients at this time. All three are answered by CITM.

Both are in fact heavily overlapping terms, and are not regulated titles. It is important that the doctor is board certified and takes a thorough history, and that the doctor incorporates lifestyle factors into clinical data, not a separate add-on. Specifically ask about those details, whichever word a Bergen County practice uses.

Yes. Patients from all of these towns visit the office regularly, and patients who practice holistic internal medicine are seen from the surrounding community of Bergen County, including the town of Paramus.

Yes, it’s one of the most common reasons people reach out to a holistic internist. Standard reference ranges reflect population averages, not your personal baseline, so a fuller or more functional panel is sometimes what’s missing.

Holistic internal medicine maintains the core philosophy of conventional medicine – the use of standard diagnostics and physician supervision, and builds upon this foundation with lifestyle and natural therapies.

Depending on the coverage plan and the kind of visit, coverage may differ. Call the office directly for confirmation at (201) 291-0401 and determine which is applicable to your insurance.

First visits last longer than a regular visit. Advance notice is encouraged particularly in light of the scarcity of holistic internists available in Bergen County today.
