Autoimmune Doctor Hudson North Jersey – Care That Fits a Demanding Schedule

Living with an autoimmune condition is difficult enough without having to fit it in around a hectic work schedule, long commute, and a packed calendar with no time available. That's where a Hudson County, North Jersey autoimmune doctor comes in. Dr. Roman Finn at CITM takes an active role in determining stressors, sleep issues, dietary problems, and environmental factors that may trigger flares, and then develops a plan that is realistic and feasible for you – not one that requires a vast amount of time and energy that you may not have.

The Team Managing Your Autoimmune Care in Hudson County

  • Dr. Roman Finn – board-certified internist specializing in integrative, root-cause autoimmune disease treatment

  • Scott David Lippe, MD – collaboration with gastroenterology for gut-related auto-immune triggers

  • Lev Vyshedsky, L.Ac – acupuncture (as a selective treatment), used to support flare and stress management

  • One doctor who will keep a close watch on your case all the way through, rather than explaining your past at each appointment

That continuity is essential in cases that have been handled in parts for years – it is sometimes this cross-correlation of flare history over the years that provides the clue to a problem pattern that needs to be addressed.

Why Stress and Schedule Disruption Matter for Autoimmune Flares

Chronic stress and irregular sleep are well-recognized aggravators of auto-immune flare-ups and are frequent experiences for patients commuting to work from Hudson County and having demanding occupations. Once stress load, sleep timing, and diet are reviewed along with your labs, a flare that appears to have no pattern will reveal its pattern. An autoimmune doctor sees these factors, and not flares or outbreaks, per se, as random occurrences unrelated to living. Patients are often surprised to find their flare timeline lines up closely with a specific work stretch or a disrupted sleep pattern once the two are laid out side by side.

Conditions Commonly Evaluated

  • Autoimmune thyroid diseases such as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis
  • Inflammatory joint conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis
  • Systemic autoimmune involvement and lupus
  • Psoriasis and other auto-immune skin diseases
  • Gut-related autoimmune diseases, such as celiac disease

These conditions can frequently coexist and have shared contributing factors, so your assessment addresses the total picture and not necessarily the confirmation of any single diagnosis – if your patient has been diagnosed with a thyroid condition, they will also be checked for other involved autoimmune conditions rather than assumed to have just one problem.

How Your Evaluation and Testing Work

The first visit begins with a comprehensive medical history, including how severe the symptoms are, as well as how the flare-ups occur, when they occur, and whether they are linked to stress, sleep issues, diet, or lifestyle changes. Testing is not just limited to a panel of antibodies, but gut permeability testing, nutrient testing, and inflammatory markers that a standard screening might miss. Results are shared–often a pattern across multiple markers will give a better picture than one test alone, and all the information collected will inform a plan focused on your unique triggers instead of a one-size-fits-all autoimmune diet. After identifying an individual trigger pattern, the priorities of two patients with the same diagnosis can be very different.

A Plan Designed to Actually Fit Your Life

Treatment is designed to be realistic and not aspirational: dietary changes based on a real schedule, intervention with supplements to correct known deficiencies, practical stress and sleep management interventions, rather than an unrealistic diet plan, and monitoring of medications where clinically indicated. Acupuncture is used in an adjunctive fashion when it is beneficial to attacking a flare. The plan gets reviewed on a regular basis and tailored as per your labs, symptoms, and the frequency of the flares – a plan that does not take into consideration your real-life situation does not tend to be effective for long. A plan you can realistically stick with for months will yield greater results than a harder one that you don’t follow for two weeks.

An Autoimmune Physician Hudson County Patients Can Actually Keep Up With

Do you feel the same frustration as many patients do with each visit to a specialist, but without anyone looking back at the big picture? That changes when you work with one doctor who is observing the case on a regular basis, because only when someone is looking for the pattern does it become apparent: not just reacting to the symptom that is loudest that week. This sort of continuity is more important as time passes without a cohesive explanation.

I have been going to Dr. Finn's office for over 15 years and I am very happy with the services and treatment I receive. Dr. Finn always listens to his patients and tries to get to the root of the problem instead of just treating the symptoms. I like that he always recommends using natural and alternative methods first instead of prescribing medications right away. I also go for a physical therapy at his office for my back problems. His physical therapist is very knowledgeable and massage therapists, Galina and Shirley, are the best! They always welcome me with the smile and are very attentive. I would not think of going anywhere else. Keep up a great job Dr. Finn and The Staff!!

Frequently Asked Questions: Autoimmune Doctor in Hudson County

Can stress really trigger an autoimmune flare?

Yes. Chronic stress is known to influence immune regulation and is a common factor known to increase stress flares in many autoimmune diseases, so for this reason we look at stress load as part of a comprehensive assessment, not as background noise. Patients can be unknowingly putting on more of a physiological burden than they believe, even if they feel they are coping on a level.

Instead of just treating an autoimmune condition after it has been diagnosed, the CITM autoimmune doctor assists your existing doctor in diagnosing what will be contributing triggers to your condition. Both roles back and support one another.

Referrals are not needed. CITM’s autoimmune care team will accept direct booking.

Not necessarily. Plans are designed to your real schedule and constraints and are based on realistic, sustainable changes, not all-or-nothing changes that are likely to be difficult to stick to in the long term. Small, regular changes are better retained than big radical changes that are dropped after a few weeks.

Yes. Medication is generally retained in the plan if clinically indicated and planned for with dietary modifications, supplementation, and stress management, and not simply removed.

It is dependent on the condition and the number of factors involved, but many patients will see changes within the first few months, as the specific factors are being identified and treated.

Coverage will vary based on the plan and services involved. To make sure, please call (201) 291-0401 and our staff will verify what is applicable before visiting.
