What kind of doctor are you, and what do you actually treat?
I am board-certified in internal medicine and have been practicing alternative and traditional therapies since 1981. Over the past few years, I have worked with patients suffering from many different types of conditions, such as immune system disorders, cardiovascular problems, diabetes, fibromyalgia, depression, and musculoskeletal diseases, using both mainstream medicine and herbal medicine and homeopathy.
How does your approach differ from a typical doctor visit?
A typical visit will usually cover one symptom per visit. I really do see the big picture: how your stress, sleep, nutrition, and other conditions all interrelate, and then make a decision on which mix of conventional and complementary therapies is appropriate for you.
Why did you combine conventional and alternative medicine instead of choosing one?
Patients don’t have to separate their health experiences into categories. Conventional medicine provides me with the diagnostics and the tools; complementary approaches work to complement any conventional treatment that is lacking. None of these is replacing the others in my practice.
What would you want a new patient in Bergen County to know before their first visit?
Recognizing that this is a real medical review, rather than a wellness check. I will look at your background and any relevant tests and procedures, and any treatments I prescribe will be based on what I actually see, not a package of treatments that is given to all patients.
